This workshop was held with the academic purposes of IARTech to introduce this type of structure to students by means of experiencing real construction, and accumulate knowledge of modeling such structures in parametric software. Scissor structures are interesting due to the fact that they are dynamic and can be extended and retracted and thus create diverse environments.

 

This workshop took place for a period of three days. On the first day, the theoretical fundamentals were lectured by Dr. Asefi, and primary models were constructed by students. On the second day, the modeling of scissor structures was done with the parametric software Grasshopper, and advanced models were built by students. And lastly, on the third day, two full-scale models, one dome and one chahar taqi which are extendable and retractable, were constructed by students with the instructions of IARTech group members.
